
Animal Instincts, Inc. is owned and operated by Kimberley Kamphaus, CPDT. More than a decade ago Kim discovered her love and passion for helping pets and their families while working as a veterinarian assistant. From this moment forward Kim has surrounded herself with many pets; either her own "kids" or the "kids" of her clients.
During the past ten years, Kim has learned to understand animal behavior through numerous avenues which include:
- Becoming a Certified Pet Dog Trainer (CPDT) 2007 - present.
- Co Founder and Owner of Professional Paws, Inc.
(Mid Day Walk and Pet Sitting Service) 1999-2006
- Co Owner and Manager of Professional Paws, Inc.
(Dog Daycare and Mid Day Walk/InHome Pet Sitting) 2006-2008.
- Eight years experience as a Professional Dog Trainer for a local company which supports and advocates a positive approach to training.
- Attended an advanced course in "Canine Behavior and Modification" at Purdue University and received a course specific certification - 2004.
- Attended an intense Canine Behavior Internship with 9 other interns where they studied and trained 28 Alaskan Husky Dogs - Vermont - (2007)
- Attends professional conferences on a regular basis.
- Most important: shares her life with her 7 dogs and 9 cats - her best teachers to date!
Kim is an USAF veteran of 14 years, holds a BS in Health care Sciences from Old Dominion University and currently works as an Army Civilian at DeWitt Army Community Hospital, Fort Belvoir, Va. And yes, one of the first additional duties Kim accepted after starting her job at DeWitt Hospital in Feb. 2008 was to help start and manage the hospital's Pet Therapy Program!
